Licensing your music

Hello everybody!!

How are you going to licence your music if you're going to publish it on f.ex. a compilation?

I know that they in Italy use S.I.A.E., but how is the situation in other countries?

If I were going to get a song released in Italy, what would I have to do?

Actually you just need to be a part of a label which is a member of the rights holder organisation in your country.

Anyone got some experience with KODA? Is the 500 Dkk membership fee the only thing you have to pay for?

I have been told that you pay 500 DKR to a membership by KODA. And that's all you have to pay.

@ Maldestra
yep 500 DDK, and that counts until you die, and when you you die the cpoyright of the songs last 70 years after your death Wink

@ CFE
you don't automaticly have the copyright by "just" getting a record deal

@ McWaust
it's free to registre a song Smile

No, but it would be stupid to make the deal if you hadn't included that and usually copyrights are a part of the contract.

I have signed a Record Concract, and the only thing they really care about is the earnings they get

I wonder how much the RIAA costs to license a song. I would probably have to license my productions with the RIAA and not some European agency.
