Would love to own such a masterpiece
Gigi D'Agostino & Luca Noise - Psico Dance
@Lucky65: Looks nice! Great work!
Would it be a single disc release or a double CD?
Or a blu-ray one?
Surely a double CD, don't worry I prepared hahah

I want a blue-ray!
To be honest I don't have much confidence in this album. There are a few reasons for this:
- Co-Musicians & Quality of the music
Gigi's older work was sometimes co-produced and mastered by other musicians. The songs on Benessere or especially the Underconstruction remixes like Deeper / Drifting Sideways / On the Radio are made with much more attention to musicality and finesse than anything released after 2009.
Above that, music used to be from a MUCH higher quality than everything that was released after 2009. The older releases that i name above were made in a time where there was still money to be made in releasing a CD, and bringing music to the public. Therefore, more attention automatically went into creating a good product, inviting good producers to work with Gigi. Now it's commercially less viable to release a CD, especially when you are working with other producers whom you would have to pay! This is why the productions seem to have gone downhill.
- Too Digital!
It seems that Gigi's music of recent times is pretty badly produced. (no offense, Gigi, but come on...) All the sounds are extremely 'digital' sounding. Gone is the distinctive vintage synthesizer sound that made Gigi's music so unique compared to the other dance music on the market. The synths have been largely replaced by 'popular' 'Nexus' type preset synthesizers that you often hear in cheap EDM songs. Also the Kicks (bassdrums) used are very flat, lacking punch and do not sound good at all.
I'm beginning to think that Gigi in the past never really produced his music completely by himself, and only now is learning to produce music with the newer software available. It seems Gigi is unable to recreate that distinctive sound he had, or he doesn't hear the difference. More likely, however, is that he just assumes his audience won't be too critical about it, since there are so many positive youtube reactions on songs like 'Neoclassic'. Personally I couldn't believe what I heard when stuff like that got posted on youtube. But all in all it fits the pattern we are seeing, when the record label that announces the release is actually a house/EDM label.
- Authentic Gigi?
Along those lines it's even possible that some random house DJ (let's say a type like 'Christian Marchi') or another random producer in the background is producing his music. Which would be a valid conclusion since the techniques used to produce the music through the years have been changing so much. You can hear it even in all the lives. It seems like Gigi is forcing himself to 'go with the new ages' and hereby losing his identitiy completely. The new sounds are so EDM inspired. This is not Gigi, and to me, the music has lost it's soul, only to be replaced by a much less emotional plastic sound that you will find in songs like Holes in the sky. Another example is what happened to the 2006 version of 'Work' VS the 2016 version. It became completely soulless. The song is just not what it used to be, but there are many more examples like this.
I can only hope that I am wrong and that all the experimental new-style stuff posted on youtube is just a placeholder for good songs like the remix of Cappella - U Got 2 Be!
But there are dark clouds on the horizon, and it would be no surprise to me if the album will be a big disappointment.
That is, if it ever will be released.
I bet you should delay the release month again

Money in music today is not in music sales, it's in live performances - and Gigi certainly has traction there at the moment. A musical release is a great way of promoting your live performances.
You are right in some of your points but I generally disagree that the music has gotten much worse. You are definetely right that the music has got simpler, but complexity in my mind is no measure of quality, otherwise we would probably all be listening to classical music only, the most complex type of music there is.
No, I actually think the simple lento tunes have their charm, and to me personally combined with an addictive lead, can sometimes be quite hard to get out of your head. I do agree that there was more to the music back in 2005 and his best tracks were made together with Sandrini, but he still deserves big kudos for staying true to a genre that everyone else has abandoned imo.
And does it really matter whether Gigi actually produces the music himself. A lot of big artists out there hardly writes any of their music themselves nowadays, that's especially true for most of what you hear on the radio. As long as the music is good, that's the only thing that matters.
A lot of people felt Gigi's music lost it's soul after the switch to Lento Violento, and that's a valid point and opinion to have, although I am not of that opinion as you can hear. If EDM is what all the kids like these days, why not try it out a little in your productions, as long as you generally stay true to your own style. I think Gigi does.
The real dissapointment will be if, after all the fuss, that the album turns out to be nothing but hot air.
CFE summed it up pretty well.
I've had the luck to talk and work with most of the producers during Gigi's best years.
When you say it's "too digital", you should know that pretty much anything after 99 was made on a computer..if not a little bit before..so it's been digital all the way...this idea of a more "vintage" or "analog". What you're referring to is mostly a mix of nostalgy, and early audio engineering, which wasn't the best 10 years ago, and is much much better these years than ever before, resulting in that "clean" "digital" sound you might be experiencing.
Gigi produced by himself only at the very very beginning of his career. He's always been part of the process and ideas, but always had other producers around, credited or not. I'm not saying he didn't come up with anything, but there was always someone adding that extra synth, that extra note or drums to polish the whole thing... You mentionned Cristian Marchi, who's also produced by...Paolo Sandrini haha
In the end, all we can do is hope that the album comes out, with great material. However i'd like to point out that for a DJ who's success only relies on eurodance tracks released 20 years ago, it's a veeeeeery strange thing that this guy is still around, still doing huge shows in Italy...actually he's never been as popular as right now in his homeland, all of this without changing his styles in the sets, and still pushing a style only him plays and produce.
I'm personally very happy to get some new material, even if it's through youtube. The guy released quite some content already!
Love the 2nd one.
End of February and still no news, beginning to look like the same story as last year's promise from Bortolotti.
History is repeating itself
Gigi said on facebook it was delayed to March....
in March it'll be delayed to April... and so on...see you in September when we'll close the topic on our hopes.

September, that sounds a bit optimistic, don't you think?
Edit:
Noticed you didn't mention which year
hahaha exactly ;)
According to the boss of Time Records, the release is delayed to "probably April". It's a double CD, unmixed...! let the dreams go on !
Uuuuuh! perahaps they are preparing an april's fool!

The album is out now!!!!!!
Maaah April's fool
Where to buy?hahaha,April Fools' Day!!!!!!
I guess you don't have April's fools in China, correct?

So its exactly like the Psico Dance release, both are non-existent!
^ Sorry to say but what a hideous production that is.
The vocal is just horrible, sound like a mix between Donald Duck and Mickey Mouse
It seems finally something is coming!
