I have to add that I disagree with your age argument, I started listening italodance in 2003, true, but if you listen to the sounds, bass, buildups etc. they are very different to what you call italodance from before 1998. We define the genre by this and not by ZYX using the name on some compilation.

Look at youtube. Search for "italo dance 1994 " or " italodance 1995 " and you will get all the results of DOUBLE YOU, ALEXIA, TALEESA, ALADINO and so on with their 90s hits.
There are a lot of serious collectors who show their collections there and they know what they are talking about.

I grew up listening to like.. really old 90's dance & I didn't start to listen to italo until like.. a few years ago.
When I first heard it I had no idea what I was listening to, cause I was sure it wasn't eurodance (cause it sounded way more modern) & it wasn't that handsup cascada shit either, so what was it? It was frustrating cause I didn't know how to find more of this music
Thanks to LimeWire, my only access to music as a 12 year old, I discovered the name of the genre - "Italo Dance".
Atfirst I couldn't tell the differences between Italo & Dance, just as you, but after a couple of years I did. & if you still can't... well that's bad for you.

It's true, Den Herrow ...many 90's tracks is called Italo Dance too.
Yes, maybe the Moguda track is italo (I didn't notice it the first time) ..but it was more about the others.. with the popular style of the moment, no one calls that italo dance ...eventhough it's made in italy by italian producers some of it.

I think we basically agree we just both look at one of the sides only.
IDP is for, let's call it modern italodance. The confusion arise because IDP is mostly about the modern italodance (some people also call it Nu-italo or Nu-italodisco) and lento. It is very confusing to use the same name for different genres because 1994 italo is clearly different from modern italo, that's the problem.
So just keep in mind that this News List is for modern italodance >1998 and also lentoviolento. We also have a section where you can post old italo or any other genre for that matter, it's called Other Music I just created a News List there too, so feel free to post there what you don't post here

For the first I really appreciate Den Harrows news in this thread, for sure there are many of the songs he post I dont like and arent italo...
But if it wasnt for Den, there would be some italo stuff we wouldnt find, so I think you guys also should appreciate his work...
Actually there were also something called italodance in the early and middle nineties, so Den Harrow is right about that : )
The sound is to me very close to eurodance ( Culture Beat - Mr. Vain, 2 Unlimited ++++++ )
And the clearest difference between those two genres I can hear, is that eurodance has the typical male rap vocals and italodance doesnt...

Aqua we never questioned that there was something in 90s called italodance, we just pointed out that IDP's definition of the genre was not so much about the 90s italodance but more the modern type. Actually you just repeat what I've been saying all the time, I also appreciate denharrow's posts, I even created a new topic in the Other Music section so we can have the modern italo in here and the rest in there.
So I think everyone is satisfied now and I hope denharrow doesn't feel like posting less than he did before, no one is as updated as him.

You take something out of context.
I never claimed italodance as a term didn't exist before those but the genre we define as italodance didn't exist before those, which is what I meant. As we figured people have a different definition than IDP including also older stuff although the music are very different musically.

But it is not true that 90s italo was not called italo dance.
In 1989 it was the first time that Zyx Music called Italo House, Italo-Disco and Dance productions form italy ITALO DANCE. The term ITALO DANCE was born.
Also in the 90s there were many compilations called ITALO DANCE
and/or ITALO DANCEFLOOR or ITALIAN DANCE MUSIC
I collect Italo since 1983. So I think I should know what I am talking about.
For you ( because of the age ) italo dance begins in 1998 but this is simply not true.
I think from now on like before I will post all new italo productions
on GFU ( where Lento Violento has an own section - not under ITALO DANCE ) and only very clear classic italo dance 00s sound productions here too. Then nobody is confused.
