Yo Guys, just wanted to know if you guys were into some of the actual trendy sounds?

I'm talking Swedish House Mafia, Porter Robinson, Nero, Avicii, Afrojack or some shit like these?

Cause...actually, now that I rethink about it..I feel like it was a mistake for me to stay into italo for that long, and listening only to this kind of music..

I do not regret of course, I've got tons of cds that I love to hear again but..it's meh. It's true that it's pretty simple and cheesy.. but who cares.

No anyway just curious to see if you guys were into some other stuff..I mean..there are so many amazing songs at the moment that, it would be sad not to enjoy them while it's popular Smile

Swedish House Mafia, Porter Robinson, Nero, Avicii, Afrojack doesnt say shit to me Tongue

I listen 75% Italo and 25% other music like trance, hardstyle and pop.
Musical taste changes in the years. You should NEVER regret it if you dont love the songs like you did years ago. We all have that I guess. It's just....I would kill a man for more 2000-2010 productions...

What do you mean by "stay into italo for that long" ? ...you had every oppotunity then like you have now, to listen other styles...
and I'm sure you did, but it didn't catch you, so...

I have always followed the trendy genres, but they never catched me... some songs are good, but it's like "one hit wonders".

Saying italo is cheap and cheesy is bullshit! Italo (when it's produced right) is some of the most melodic, beautiful and incredible advanced music ...the sounds and the atmopsheres you can't find in any other genre!

Avicii - Levels ...just to take an example, is nice but pretty simple to me - it has nice melody and sounds but goes in same all way through - no variation which is in the BEST italo keyword: DETAILS.

I like 90% of italo tracks only because it has the italo build-up - can't say that for any other genre I know.

Like I've said in all the times I've been listening to italo ...there is NO music that makes me feel like when I listen to italo - and I'm sure nothing ever will.

I'm happy for you, that you like new trendy styles you just keep doing that.. Smile I just think you've been brainwashed by the marsians and now can't think on your own but music taste variates... Wink

Hahaha yeah McWaust I think you're right...I think I see it more like from a technical point of view, i'm not of coursr criticizing your taste, I mean, fuck I loved italo, and still do when played in a club, i mean ffs, this is what got me to work into music, and also to share the news through the site, so i'm infinitely thankfull to you guys Smile)

But..I think today there's more details in the production than before, as technology evolved..take dubstep for example (but hey, I agree it's not such a mainstream genre!).
Sadly, Italo is cheesy and cheap, BUT it's ok ! I mean, I do love this to, the melodies are addictive and I have some of my best memories related to some of the italo songs Smile

I do have been brainwashed, but...italo brings 0€ in the account hehe so you gotta move along ! But that was cool starting learning videos with italo stuff!

Personnally...today I found a lot of the italo feeling and dance elements in today's mainstream, you can't deny it Smile

Anyway, i'll just drop this here and love to hear your opinion about it...
You might know this guy as... DJ Deamon who some years ago released some songs on ARC Records...and after dropping italo/hands up started this project. He's 17years old, and touring the world...

oh, the guy you hated so much? hmm...

I can't hear the good in it... seriously the 1st one sounds like a 80's base that has some various cuts and sounds with a boring beat - nothing special or new, all heard before.
The SOUND is good YES! - but italo would have the same, if was pro-producers, that produced and mastered in a pro studios etc. with the new tecnical sound ...but sure that's because of the money, and that's just a damn shame for italo - but it has nothing to do with the "genre" it's "just" a question of the quality.

Cheap and Cheesy? I really doesn't get it xD must be some specific tracks you think of then... if you compare music in the years 2002 - 2004 italo was some of the most new and advanced - ofcause if you compare 2004 and 2012 - it looks VERY different cause of the development.

I will never like dubstep, the style is just too annoying to me. All I can think of when listening it is a crazy drunk monkey hammering heaps of cardboard boxes. Don't think it will be very mainstream ever either.
I only listen the artists you mentioned in clubs, cause that's what they play there, but it's not something I would ever listen on a daily basis. House music is just too... boring, dance and trance music has more energy which I prefer by far. Unlike Waust I agree it's more cheesy but imo. the more cheesy the better, I love cheesy dance music.
And when i finally do relax, I prefer something a lot less powerful namely classical music.

Heheh Yeah I can understand Dubstep being annoying.. I'm listening to it but I think most of the releases are garbage.
Agreed with CFE on the cheesy part, also love it damn much Smile

Yop Waust, i'm out of italo for the last couple years for the lack of quality sadly Sad although mastering etc.. for a style like italo isnt that difficult

I agree with pretty much everything you said... although I like electropop / dance-pop more... but also Nero, SHM, Avicii...

Indeed italo is more cheesy most of the time but that's no news to me... Have italo kept me from listening to other music? Maybe, but I've been listening to other music for many years now, and I think that mainstream music since 2007 or so is much better than mainstream music from 2001-2006 (no exact years, just estimations). Yes I might have missed some not-so-mainstream, foreign music, but well... I don't regret anything. Not too long after the quality of italodance started decreasing, mainstream music became better. So it was perfectly timed (almost).

And at the time when many italodance producers switched to house, yes, I took a stand against that. And I do not regret that, because I did not and still do not like the italo house productions from back then. It appeared that most of them were just skilled italodance producers, not skilled producers in general. Or I just don't like that music style, I don't care. And yes, of course it is true that when you listen to a different kind of music more often, chances increase that you will appreciate that music style more.

I hope this post makes any sense to you, because I just literally typed what was on my mind.

Apart from italo/lento/hardstyle I do listen to a little bit of dubstep and house...there are no particular artists I like, just specific songs.

I used to listen to a lot of hard trance, hardhouse & techno (I had 2 techno songs released in 2007/2008), but not so much now, although I do check out the new hard dance releases every now and again.

Also I've got over 100 hands up vinyls, so...basically I'll listen to anything really!

This is a very interesting topic!

I do have to admit I've also pretty much forced myself to turn away from italo so I wouldn't end up being glued to it for the rest of my life like Waust (I'M JUST KIDDING LOL DONT KILL ME)
I just didn't want to limit what I listened to as much as I used to.. I couldn't even listen to handsup before without being sick lol.

So step by step I got used to house (like summer of 09?) and last summer I adopted the Skrillex craze (mostly to have something musical in common with my friends) and realizing how bad dubstep is made me realize how much cooler electrohouse is...

And today I'm everything 12-year-old me hated! BUT!!!! I still remember where I came from into all those other music styles I listen to today (pretty much anything electronic, like electropop, trance, house, azis etc) which I think is very important (which is why I always go back to my italo playlist every now and then :33333333333333)

I would like to end this post with this. I discovered this as I went through his discography and it took me back a few years :3
Listen! Modern with influences from the past, no? ;-3

dano that is just sad.

anyway.. i finally took the time to listen those videos you posted Luc, to me it sounds like it took a lot of inspiration from Bangalter some 10-15 years ago, great that style is having a revival apparently though (Although in a harder version)..

Yep CFE it DOES have a serious influence from Daft Punk..let's see what will come out of 2012... 2011 was already such a CRAZY year for electronic music (in all styles!)

And so you can hate me totally, here's my latest addiction

Yep it's hard, but..if played loud in a party, it's CRAZY

Dano ...I don't force myself to listen italo. You both sounds like you were forced and it was the most horrible time of your life lol ..too bad for you then Smile I don't see it that way at all.

I listen other styles now and then, but they are not interesting to me, as italo is. Italo is the ultimative for me and I can listen other genres, but italo is still no. 1!

I think that that kind of music... Avvici.. Guetta and those others, it's just a modal thing, think about it.... in the next future years anyone will remind any of them, the mainstream music of now it's poor, there is no variations, in my opinion it's bad music... only your are the only who can scape from mainstream.... once i tried to make house music like that, but were to simple to me.... i better mix and make another styles like R & B.... but in melodic way with accoustic instruments, more rich. Italo is no cheap, try fussion like orchestral arranges and powerfull synth, the results are amazing. Yes Italo won't live forever but try other things, mainstream it's a fashion of radios, i'll never be mad for heard and made italo or Lento. It's a life style and if you and i make another style, make it with full conviction of it, make it for passion more than money.

Well... in the case that you need to make some stuff for money, do it right with professionality, if you don't like that style jus t put yourself a nickname xD..... see ya --- sorry about my bad english.

Oh no, don't misunderstand! I only speak for myself and I didn't force myself to listen to italo at all. What I was trying to say is that I had set my mind into that everything in the electronic genre that wasn't italo sucked. This wasn't something I had done on purpose, it's just the way it had always been..
As time went by and releases in italo were fewer and fewer I tried to go back in time instead to find songs I had missed and that worked for me for a while. But then that also got meh.. and I needed something new, so I had to change my mind about other subgenres in electronic music (now that's something i forced myself to do) so i could still have my required dosage of new music and eat the cake too (i dont even know anymore, i need sleep)

I hope that cleared that out.. :3

Hi, guys, several weeks without posting here, heheh :tard:

Well, although Italodance is my favorite music of all, the only one rythm that makes me dream and shake my ass as crazy at the same time, it's not the only style I listen... I also like music Robbie Rivera style (I guess it's house, have you heard Robbie's music?) and other styles that are not electronic music... I live in a region where Italo is completely unknow, but that makes feel unique in a sense, heheh Crazy
