What do you guys think about...

... the trend in American pop/rnb music to use more catchy melodies, Autotune on the vocals and synthesizers? The last couple of years, pop/rnb in the US turned more and more to dance music. The last months it's moving towards a climax, 'everyone' is doing it right now Tongue

Some examples:

Lady Gaga ft. Space Cowboy & Flo Rida - Starstruck

Kanye West - Love Lockdown

Kanye West - Heartless

Chris Brown - Forever

I see your point but there is still a long way to go before it's dance.. and to be honest i dont think Kanye West will ever turn to Eurodance Tongue

Yeah ok Love Lockdown is not a very good example hehehe. It's quite something new/fresh overall.

No, but it has common elements (synth, vocoder, catchy melody), it's a trend, which seems to be really popular. So, I would say, this is a good time to release (euro)dance tracks... but there hasn't been much change in Europe at least. I wonder why...
Aside from that, for example Vanni G produced the Coolio album which sounded just like average commercial hiphop. Euro/italodance producers could be doing very well in producing pop/urban songs that are popular today. For example, there is a Dutch producer (not really special or well-known) that produces half the tracks for the new Akon album. They missed an opportunity there I think.

You are quite right. Vanni G is a dead fish nowadays, unfortunately, but he has reached a level of the few. I see your point but close to all musical genres borrow elements from other genres. This might very well be some kind of trend using electronic equipment to enhance genres such as hiphop and RnB but it's not close to dance music and I'm just saying that it probably never turn into it anyway.. but perhaps it awakens an interest for electronic music for some Smile

Yep, that's what I mean, Kanye West won't make italodance, that would be insane Wink
But what I can make up from this trend, is that the (young) audience of 2008 does like to hear danceable songs, catchy melodies... and that it could be a sign of reviving interest in commercial pop/dance music (not necessarily the old-style italodance or anything, but just something better than what we're used to in the past years).

Apart from that, I'm also just happy that I have something NEW to listen to that I really really like (mostly thanks to my vocoder addiction I guess).

i know only the chris brown songs, they are nice!
the other, it is still to much r&b to me, if i want to like it, oke it does remind me less on almost naked women dancing, and the melody is more catchy, but i prefer something else.
Like chris brown that's a song, it's complete, nice melody little beat inside, nice vocals, and i miss that complete image in the other songs..

But i think it's a good time for other projects to try another time Tongue yeah Smile

& not to mention this one! x') (which i've showed before Laughing out loud)

& another genre that uses alot of these sounds is Reggeaton! (: (L) <3

Arcangel - Pa Que La Pases Bien

Rakim Y Ken-Y Feat. Don Omar - Cuerpo Sensual {The Royalty}

Yulia Ahonkova (Julia Kova) - Konfetnij Malchik

Another dance r'n'b song. Has lots of elements. It's in Russian but it's probably a good example. This came out about 2 to 3 years ago. This video is the toned down version. The other video isn't toned down and has blacked out frontal nudity.
