Interview with DJ Mauro Vay - 27th January 2007

Real name? Mauro Vai

Age? 32

When and why did you begin to produce music?
I started producing music in 2001, and I have always worked in music. I'm a dj since I was sixteen years, and from 1988 I'm a speaker in radio. So in 2001 I tried to created my music. I have studied piano when I was young, for many years.

What music styles are you listening to other than what you produce?
I listen every kind of music, all from Mozart to Bon Jovi. I like all good music, I don't like hard rock, but I “eat” every kind of music.

Who is/are you favorite artist(s)?
I have no one in particular. For Italian music I like very much Ligabue. For italo dance I like all the best artist: Gigi D'Agostino, Eiffel 65, Gabry Ponte, Cerla, Floorfilla, Roby Rossini, Danijay and many many others. I also like: Madonna, Fat Boy Slim, Casino Royale, Feel Good Production, Scooter, Chemical Brothers, Daft Punk, Steve Vai (to rest in family Wink, Alan Silvestri and I can continue for hours! I buy a lot of music every month, I have more than 20000 vinyls and 10000 cds (all original)

What do you think is the future for Italo Dance music?
I have always listened, played italo dance, and I hope it'll be back like 10 years ago. If people go on buy italo dance in legal, I think it'll return. But the first step is that people support italo.

What do you like to do on your spare time?
I work every minutes in my life, but I find time for my girlfriend, and I like watching film, my prefer one is Back to the Future! My label BIT Records borned for this film: BIT = Back In Time.

What are your plans for the future? style, project etc.
I’ll go on with italo dance, I don't think to be relased like artist, but only as remixer. I'm trying some experiment like electro music, but I don't know if I'am really ready for this music. I'm always producing some pop music and trying to remix a pop song in a italo dance song, like Nilogrigio that becamed a good italo dance song, and a new artist of mine Frina.
I love having meeting with other persons, and I hope to collaborate with some other producers. Now I'm in contact with Fabio Amoroso (m2o), and we are working for new songs. I'm in contact with other important producers and I hope to make something good.

What news can you reveal for us about your future productions?
In 2007 I will relased Babil J, Katrina, Resonator, The Dreamers, Frina in italo dance style, and I have two new project ready, one with my team of Dynamo & Altar Boys and one with TopDj. I think that will be relased some new singles and some new compilation. In these days I have also created 3 compilation in abbonament, every month 3 compilation with a lot of italo dance music.

hehe know a guy in Austria who has like 60.000 vinyls Tongue

But very interesting to read, was wondering why he didnt try to produce something himself instead of just remixing. He's one of those guys who really tries to do something for this genre, thumbs up!
And really great to hear that he'll continue producing italo, love his work Wink
