lol
How did you discover ItaloDance?
I'll tell my story here too then
When I was about ten years old, in 2000, I was very fond of L'Amour Toujours, so I bought the album of Gigi from the money I got for my birthday. I really liked it, but I didn't know that the style had a name of it's own.
Then I forgot it for a couple of years, and in 2004 or 2005 I started listening to a show, every sunday on a dutch local radio station, with italo music, italodisco as well as italodance. And I listened that a lot, it also appeared to me by then that I had some Italodance on my pc, without knowing it was italodance (Like Dj Ross - Dreamland)
And last december I was bored, so I was ripping some old cd's to my pc, including L'Amour Toujours 1. And when I listened that again, I liked it, so I googled a bit, and found other artists. Later I found IDN and m2o, en some italodance forums, and now I am addicted to it Also with a little help of Maaike, who helped me with ordering some albums
@ New people: Don't forget to write here..
So has occurred, that I was DeeJay all my life: at first at school, then at institute, in clubs... And the most popular dancing music came from Italy. In those times it was Italo Disco. But there was time and have come 90's years. Music became more rhythmic and Italo Disco trained for a new Italo House. But also it changed nothing - all that was pleasant to me on former came from Italy. Then I began to be engaged in advertising buziness (makin' of commercial video and 3D graphics). It was 2000 year. We have bought the satellite and began to look advertising videoclips which do in the world. Our sputnik was Hot Bird. And somehow in the evening I began to look what channels at us is, and at the same time have checked up all list radio station on the HotBird also. I was very glad, when have found DISCORADIO. Here then I also have got acquainted with Italo Danza. THAT IT were FOR MAD THEMES: Mabel, Mash, the first Eiffel65, Gigi Dag, Magic Box, Paps'n'Skar, Madras, J An Project, The Soundlovers, Peach. . I recollect till now those times, as almost 3 years ITALO DANZA music was the most fashionable (but also very rare) on radio and a disco! So I also remained the devoted fan of the given style...
p.s.
And I as accustom the daughter to this style
I'm so sad 'cause I missed Discoradio.. apparently, as most of my friend that were knowing it, this radio was legend !
Nice story, Simp!
Ladies And Gentleman.... i will now take your back in time.... the year is 2001... before that i only listen to rock/heavy metal and that kind of music... but then a meet a guy name "Kasper Hjorth" he play: "Gigi D'Agostino - The Riddle" for me, and i was really solded out, and then he play: "Vanni G - Time Is Over" and then i decide to begin to listen to italodance, because it sound so great... and my passion to Italodance grow bigger and bigger... and my passion to italodance is still high, and will be there forever, of course their is: Lento Violento, Hard Dance Style, Hard Dance and Hands Up!, but italodance have still a biggest place in my green, white and red heart....
bla bla bla thats all folks
You're a true story teller Nice story!
me 2,man!i still remmember the fresh feeling 2 eiffel 65's blue' from 1999 at that moment in my middle school period.m addicted 2 italodance so much.everyday work cant be without music playing.:D
I feel you true italo-birth!
i discovered italodance in the late 1990's, when Blue was released from Eiffel 65. great song, for the time. rather revolutionary. Eventually I went to confidanza (I dunno if you guys know of it or not) and that's where i discovered the rest of the world of italo.
I used to post with pyro at Confidanza and Heart of Dance. Anyway, my story is pretty much exactly the same as his. It all started for me with "Blue.":)
Haha...how I discoverd Italo Dance?
Well..it all started when I began listening to russian techno and european techno/dance dance sort of music. Of course eiffel 65..is like da legend...but never really into it much, the really big interest in italo dance came to me about two years ago, when the song anima libera was like totally popular in lithuania and my friend told me about it, from then on I discovered Gabry ponte......and so on to where I am now.
Wow nice!! A little different story hehe ... didn't know Anima Libera was so popular there cool!
Anima libera is the song that got me into italodance too! <3
one of the greatest songs of all time (L) <3<33<3<33<3<3<3
I never really thought of Anima Libera as one of the big hits either, to me it's just an average italo track, but a lot of people seem to think otherwise
well... yeah! at least is was super mega über awesome for me... (L) <3333<33<33<33<
Well yea personally I dont consider anima libera to be like a totally awesome song or anything like that, it was popular but it wasnt like chart popular, it was more like ringtone and disco popular.....plus it was popular with all of my friends.
I'm new and just want to share.
I have been listening italo dance for long time without knowing the genre. I referred it as just 'dance' or 'disco' music. This was back in the 80's when I was about 10 year old or so, starting with "I Like Chopin", "Tarzan Boy" and Den Harrow's "Catch The Fox".
Then fast forward to 90's and early 2000 when Eiffel 65 "Blue" and Gigi "I'll Fly With You" were big. I loved these songs. I bought Gigi's album. I listened to euro dance music on DI a lot. DI played some italo songs like Hotel Saint George & Molella. I still didn't know what Italo dance was.
Then in 2004 or 05.. I played FIFA05 on Xbox a lot with my friend. There was one song that stuck in our heads... (take a guess?) .... it was Deici Cento Mille. My friend downloaded the Brother's album and I got a copy. The songs are so "cheesy" that they are awesome... catchy-simple tunes, cheesy english lyrics (the ones in English).
From there, I started searching for other italian dance music and discovered the term "italo dance". I found IDN and listened to it all the time. Internet is the only source which I can find the music. The genre is pretty much unknown in US.
At the end... Deici Cento Mille is still one of the best songs until now.
Wow! nice history, Henfen! You've been listening since the begining it seems! ...btw a big welcome to the site!
The genre is an underground-genre in all the world, only in italy itself it was very "commercial" in radio's and stuff. Most people called it like you Dance, Techno etc.
I know in the US that in Chicago, Illinois, there has been some sets on a local radio by guy called Jammin Joe P - but that's about it
Can you explain what DI is?
DI = http://www.di.fm/
One of the largest internet radio stations playing electronic music on the net.
And welcome to the site henfen! you are our 500th member
Feel free to write something in our New Members-subforum

My backround with ItaloDance isn't much different from others.
The year is 1999 and the radio stations in Finland are playing this little song called 'Eiffel 65 - Blue'. I liked it straight away. So christmas comes and me and my brothers wish the album for christmas present. I listen to it again and again... but I'm slowly moving towards trance. Accuface, Svenson&Gielen... that very good stuff from the years 2000-2003. Even today I haven't completely forgotten trance. But it runs the second place in my heart to some other genre as you might guess
So approx. 5 years ago I returned to listen E65 - Europop. By then old scratchy disc that barely plays. Inside notes nowhere to be seen. I dig in a little deeper. So this Gabry Ponte has a solo-career. Hmm... not bad stuff. So I buy his albums and I by the other two albums by E65.
Then I start to notice in the internet that they're somehow linked to this genre called 'ItaloDance'. So I find out info about other artist, like their style immediately and buy albums. Danijay (who's my favourite these days), Luca Zeta and later Dj Sanny J... you name it. Best time I ever had was listening to Danijay's tribe set @ m2o back in the year 2006. There was always some new tracks.
And so he listened to the style happily ever after.
huauha!! nice story! ...and ending
My friend introduced to me m2o musica allo stato puro of the year 2003 ! It was like an instant drug. It was like heroin to me. I was addicted to Italian dance music !
bla bla bla thats all folks
wow wow, do you mean heavy metal or black metal like dimmu borgir ?
nice stories, m2o was indeed very addictive back then.. I remember going to italy and listen it most of the time
I have discovered italodance with Gigi D'Agostino and Eiffel 65.
"Bla Bla Bla", "The Riddle", "Blue", etc... 90's was a great time!!!
More Metallica, Iron Maiden... like that kind of music
now i never listen to it
It all started in 1999 when Eiffel 65 released Blue [da ba dee] world wide. I bought the cd when i was traveling to a cabin with a friend of mine, I just got so hooked on the "new" sound i was experiencing, and bought the next single Move your body and the album Europop. After listening to those awsome track of those cds, I was getting interested in other italoDance artists as Gigi D'agostino and Blisscorporation artist and band like: Zorotl and roberto Molinaro. I started listenig to all the old blissco bands like Da Blitz and Bliss team. and then the year was 2001/02 my collection of eurodance/italodance was getting big and my interest for making this awsome music was growing. the years went by and Gabry Ponte was releaseing CDs and albums along with his radio shows and Megamixes, and I bought almost everything i could find of Eiffel 65 Gigi D'Agostino and Gabry Ponte on eBay, funrecords ect. I also listened to other artists like Daddy Dj, Paps'n'skar, Molella, danijay, Eddy Wata, Benassi and of course the DJ Richi M from Sweden (and many more ). as Dj Aquacrash said; ItaloDance is very uknown to the norwegians. I like that only few ppl pick this up. Its nice to listen to music that ain't so mainstream.
and im still here listening to the newer work of gigi d'agostino's lento violento and the ex eiffel 65 band called Bloom 06.
Well thats my story of how i got know italodance
all the exclamation points in this forum scares me a little. it's cool though, i guess. it just reminds me a little of the blissco forum. (here I go again, spouting off other random forum names)
