How did you discover ItaloDance?

Could Be Interesting To Hear Your Story, About When/How You Discovered The Genre Called ITALODANCE!

I'll Begin...

In 2oo1 I started on Buisness College to get somekind of education, cause I didn't know what to do Shock ...One of my classmates, which I was hanging out with, was listening to ItaloDanza! Cool ...and at that time it was getting a bit popular [dance music] example: Daddy DJ, Paps'N'Skar - Get It On, Scooter - Logical Song ...was some of the hits I remember from that time!
But also every saturday night on the radio called NRJ, a show named EXTRAVADANCE was playing! ...on that time it was MINIsteren & Rimini-Peter! that was mixing, and playing the newest tracks from from the south! [The show still runs but with Jacob & JANIK] Wink

And then.. after Downloading [Illegal] Shock because we didn't know @ the time where to get the musica from! I found IDN and it made me CLEAN Laughing out loud lol
After listening and chatting I learned where to buy, and DELETED! Every single file I had Cool [Also because @ that time the Anti-Pirates was catching many people ...and didn't want to risk that]

the rest I think you know...

So... Your Turn! Smile

Here in Norway, italodance is very unknown for everyone...

Only a few have heard of "Gigi", and that's all ! Sad
_________________________________________________________________

In 2003/2004 I saw "Time To Rock" & "Geordie" ( Gabry Ponte ) videoclips on a TV-channel called "Music Box" Tongue !

In the summer of 2004, a norwegian TV / radio-channel sometimes played :
Paps 'N' Skar - Mirage & Love Is Love !

After that time I searched on the internet where I could buy this music !

One of my first italo dance cd's was PPCom4...
On that compilation I discovered more italodance artists like, Hotel Saint George, Brothers, Danijay, Paps 'N' Skar, Molella & more...

Later I found IDN Wink

And now I'm also here ! Oh Really!

I first discovered it thanks to O-Zone - Dragostea Din Tei in 2004. That song was massive in Europe, and even got to number 3 in England!

I searched for more stuff from O-Zone...and like McW I had to download at the time, because I didn't know anywhere where I could buy this music. I heard the Prezioso remix of Despre Tine, and that kind of led me to Prezioso....then to Danijay, Gabry Ponte....and then I discovered IDN, and where to buy all of it from!

my italo dance story starts almost 2 years ago (time flies when you have fun Laughing out loud)
2,5 years ago i "never" heard of dance music (just a few songs but only what they played on the radio); i came in a new class, made some new friends and one of them liked dance music, so first i came into trance, which i liked very much!!! Of course i knew gigi and eiffel 65, but i never knew that there was a special genre for it!!! But i've always loved their hits Laughing out loud I'll fly with you is my all times favorite, and it's from that early beginning!

Then he found out some italo tracks, like gabry and dj ross Smile
we liked those songs and he searched further, in winamp between the streams and found the stream of idn!!! Some days later he found out that there was a forum aswell Smile
And i was happy with all he found!

I listened a lot of idn, too much!!!! and i loaded some songs, but it wasn't enough, cause october last year, idn was down for one week... AND SO WAS I! I was addicted to idn + italo... but in that period i got my first cd by gabry !!!
Cause our school went to roma, and we asked a teacher to buy for us some cd's but she could only find gabry, but it roxxxx!!!

Still i was loading and listening, and in March i went by myself to Roma, bought 4 cd's Smile (the start of my true love for danijay Tongue)

and now i want to have all cd's i know Laughing out loud Really i could spend my whole salary and contribution of the government to italodanzaaa Wink
Italodance is for me much more then just a music style, ===> a life style Laughing out loud

And i F*cking LOVE IT!

Good question, McW Smile
Italodance is very popular here in austria, in the past you could listen to it at almost every important radiostation. (Nowadays it's getting more and more ignored, how sad Sad).
I think all started with listening to some tracks of Gigi D'Ag and Eiffel 65 (like Maaike) and then i started to look for more, searched at the web and found IDN, looked at local recordstores and discovered some great Italo-Samplers (Super Italia, Italo Smash Hits, Italo Fresh Hits, etc.)...

When i started listening to music it was mostly rock-music which i still enjoy, but in the late 90's when dance music and especially Aqua grew big, i was hooked. For a long time i didnt listen to anything but this happy dance music. My first experience with italo was when i heard the DJ Lhasa - Giulia Gabry mix in the radio, it was a really nice song but i didnt knew the title of it at that moment, so i kinda forgot it again.
Some weeks later at a party i heard the inevitable L'amour Toujours and from that moment my interest exploded though i didnt know exactly what genre it was. When i became a member of the music forum mymusic.dk i found a little genre called "italo" which was related to Gigi's style, that's how i learned the name.
I started to search the internet for information on this genre and found italozone.dk, IDN and m2o.it. The interest stayed and most of my music collection is italo today. Its no secret that i download because i cant afford all the great music, but when i found sites like americandisco.net i did buy the best of the best which i still do.

My first encounter with Italo was in the summer of '99.
I was in Italia, ravenna, near Rimini and heard gabry Ponte aswel Erika (I Don't know) in a local discotec.. Smile

Since then I am infected with the 'Italo-Virus'.. Tongue

The first thing I did when I heard that music, was buying a few cd's for when I was back @ home. In the beginning it was only Gigi, Gabry Ponte and a few more.

Every year when I went back to Italia and bought the newest cd's.. Deejay Parade Compilation, M2O, Hot Party compilations, Hitmania compilations and so on.

After a few years I searched on the internet and did find IDN. I didnt know there where so much people that loved the same music. This was in the year 2005. After hanging round on IDN as a paying VIP member I found IDP.

And this is where I now am.. Smile

For me it started with eiffel 65. Got into eiffel 65 then got into italo with gabry and e65. Now later i'm hooked. It was a gradual step for all the artists.

Yeah, "Blue" was my favourite song when i was like... 6 or something. I think it was the first italo song I heard too, I still remember the video Laughing out loud. It's probably the only italo song EVER thats showed on tv here in sweden x(! I've always been listening to italodance, just not as much as now xD.

In november 2005 a friend sent me the hardcore version of "Emi - Anima Libera". It became my favourite song, so i asked him to send me the original version, & then i fell in love Smitten.
In the begining of 2006 i found m2o, danijay & everything that goes with it Dead, so i've only been listening to italo for a year, soon.

...& thats about it. Dead

surely... time flies when you have fun..

The story of italodance and me starts in 2001...
I didn't really listen to music at all.. mostly music from movies (star wars, indiana jones..) .. then suddenly one day, one of my classmate has taken a cd with her.. "tarari and tarara.. in the place to be.." "hmm.. this sounds interesting.. really good!.." i thought.. got the guy who made this song's name.. "something like Agostino" she told me... - got home and fired up napster and winmx.. then downloaded like hell.. hehe (yeah, i also didn't know how to get the records back then..).
First it was gigi.. then molella, then prezioso the gabry ponte then.. - suddenly i realized "this was it".. MY MUSIC! Laughing out loud so i began to use all my money on records.. from italy... from germany.. from USA... From Greece.. anywhere! I sat many hours everyday/night in front of the screen and searched for italo records..
I figured out most new singles (back then..) were only released on 12", so i planned to buy a turntable...... and a mixer.... and a double cd-player.. so i began to mix records.. and i was really bad! Laughing out loud - but i enjoyed it a lot!

...well that was my story:)

In the clubs Italo is still very popular and often played, also sometimes on the radio, depending on which radiostation you can listen here. It's not that Italo is completly gone but i wish it would be more played so i would probably start to listen to radio again Smile Thank god we have IDN! (Thanks EllenDJ *g*)

hey guys, i'm new here.

i discovered italodance in the late 1990's, when Blue was released from Eiffel 65. great song, for the time. rather revolutionary. Eventually I went to confidanza (I dunno if you guys know of it or not) and that's where i discovered the rest of the world of italo.
