Interview with Angelo Ciaravola

When and why did you begin to produce music?
Since I was a child I always liked to listen to music. Thanks to my family I had the possibility to discover at the age of five the piano, studying it for a while at school. After that I took lessons with classical guitar, flute and during the adolescence I was part of an 80’s amateur rock-band.
In ‘99 I received as a gift Music Maker Studio and a Yamaha DJX keyboard, with whom I had the possibility to experiment some new sounds and mix, and in parallel I started to work as a DJ during the weekends.
In 2002 I felt in love with Fruity Loops, that accompanied me to this day (with different versions), creating new sounds, experiments, remixes and singles, some of them alone, some of them with collaborations (for example with the name of Na.Mi.Bros, Cage, S.N.S, ItaloTunez, etc... with my friends Antonio Cangiano (Tony Change), Andrea D'Elisi (SpeedJ) and my girlfriend as voice).
Now I have my own recording studio with different instruments and microphones I built by myself and with the support of my girlfriend, Tonia, and it will grow more and more.
The music is completely part of my life.

Who is/are your favorite artist(s)?
This is a very hard question: Queen, Pink Floyd, Deep Purple, Prince, Michael Jackson, Elvis Presley, Frank Sinatra, Richard Clayderman… just to tell some of them; if we go back to the past for sure Mozart, Bach, Liszt, Beethoven, Debussy, Pachelbel…
Going deeply into disco/dance world, Gigi D’Agostino, Gabry Ponte, Hotel Saint George, Prezioso, Yazoo, Alcazar, Paps’n’skar, Corona, Ice MC, Paul Kalkbrenner, Robert Miles, Armin Van Buuren, Tiesto…and also a lot of contemporary artists (famous or not), but cannot write down a list of hundreds of them!

What do you think is the future for Italo Dance music?
I think that italodance, and in general the music, needs to evolve, without losing its “heart”.
If we would to consider the old italodance, for sure could be a good track, but we need to go deeply within the sounds, using them and adding our imprint. Only in this way we can avoid the risk of having the “cut-paste” effect. From my point of view, this way is the only one to introduce new people to Italodance music, including the new generations.

What do you like to do on your spare time?
Of course I like to have fun with musical instruments (ukulele, piano, keyboards and guitars), but I am a great fan of videogames, hikes in the nature and sometimes football.

What are your plans for the future? style, project etc.
I am currently preparing (from long time ago, because basically I have the habit to experiment a lot) my own Album with many brand new songs and covers, without having only one style, but in any case with my imprint, mixing different styles, tempos and rhythms.
Another important plan, not only like producer, is to give the possibility to release some remixes and original songs to new producers. For this, I would to organize many remixes contests and original song contests to release new compilations all over the world.

What news can you reveal for us about your future productions?
As I said, I will go on with the remixes but my Album will be the most important production I am preparing. All my styles, to share with all of you all my “music personalities”, hoping you will like them. One example will be a new Reggae/Dance song I prepared.
